Studying Youth Ministries in English

SYME is a total immersion ministry focused on English, evangelism, and discipleship, specifically designed for young people in their late teens and early twenties.

SYME Japan was started in 2007 by Yoshito Kato, the visionary leader behind Word of Life Japan. Originally established in the scenic town of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, the program relocated to Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture in 2019. In 2025, Word of Life moved its base to Tokorozawa, Saitama, with plans to relaunch the SYME program in 2026—expanding its reach and creating new opportunities for ministry.

SYME is a dynamic, total-immersion program that equips young people for ministry through English learning, evangelism, youth ministry, and discipleship training. Students speak English 11 hours a day, four days a week—growing in their faith while preparing for local church service or study abroad.

SYME is a ministry of Word of Life Fellowship, Inc., a leading youth training organization with youth clubs, youth camps and training centers in over 70 countries.
