What is Local Church Ministries?

LCM stands for Local Church Ministries. LCM with Word of Life Japan is located in Miyagi Prefecture. We do various ministries with the local church.

Tomoo&Kaori Koike

LCM Coordinator in Miyagi

Tomoo and Kaori Koike are currently serving the Lord in Sendai and Minamisanriku Town mainly through regional churches. Tomoo graduated from the Word of Life Bible Institute and became a missionary with Word of Life Japan in 1991. Kaori graduated from Patriot University and began working at Marubeni Corporation. Then, Kaori attended and graduated from the Word of Life Bible Institute and became a missionary with Word of Life Japan in 1989. At that time, she was primarily working on translating Bible materials for teens in Osaka.

In 1991, Tomoo and Kaori were married. Shortly after, they worked in Tokyo doing Word of Life Bible Clubs from 1995-2000. Since 2000, they have been working in Sendai mainly with junior high school and elementary school students through Bible studies and camping ministries. After the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, they have been preaching the gospel in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture. This was one of the areas most affected by the earthquake and where there was no church. Their work in Minamisanriku Town consists of Bible Cafes and English Classes.
